How It Works

Three modules. One live brief. One real output.

Fellows build capability progressively through three structured modules, then apply everything directly to a capstone project set by an industry partner. The output is not an exercise. It goes to a real organisation.

01
Module One

Sustainability Fundamentals

Fellows develop a working understanding of the key sustainability frameworks, tools, and concepts that underpin consulting practice — ESG, systems thinking, materiality, and stakeholder mapping.

02
Module Two

Consulting Skills

Fellows learn how to structure a consulting engagement: defining the problem, gathering and analysing evidence, building a structured argument, and communicating findings to decision-makers.

03
Module Three

Sector and Context

Fellows develop sector-specific intelligence relevant to their capstone brief — understanding the industry landscape, the regulatory environment, and the sustainability challenges their partner is navigating.

Capstone Project

A live brief from a real company.

Each cohort is assigned a sustainability challenge by an industry partner. Fellows apply everything from the three modules to produce a consulting deliverable that the company can actually use. This is not a simulation. The brief is real, the partner is real, and the output is real.

Brief source Industry corporate partner
Team size Small groups of 4 to 6
Sectors Finance, FMCG, infrastructure, hospitality, energy
Presentation Delivered to the partner organisation
Output Consulting deliverable the partner receives
What Fellows Produce

A consulting deliverable that goes to a real organisation.

At the end of the fellowship, each team presents their findings directly to the partner company. The deliverable is structured, evidence-based, and ready to use — not a student assignment.

For Fellows, this is the difference between having a theoretical understanding of sustainability consulting and having done it.

Capstone Consulting Deliverable

Real output
Problem definition — a clear articulation of the sustainability challenge the partner faces and the scope of the work
Evidence base — data, benchmarks, and sector intelligence gathered and analysed by the Fellows
Findings and analysis — structured synthesis of what the evidence shows and what it means for the organisation
Recommendations — actionable, prioritised recommendations the partner can act on
Presentation to partner — delivered directly to the company by the Fellow team
Who It Is For

For students who want to do the work. For universities that want to show it.

The fellowship is designed for two groups. Students who want a real sustainability consulting experience, and universities that want to give their students one.

For Students

You will work on a real brief and produce something a company actually receives.

No prior sustainability experience is required. The modules build what you need. What is required is the willingness to think rigorously, work in a team, and present your findings with confidence.

  • Open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • No sustainability background required
  • Cohort-based with peer and facilitator support
  • GBOX Fellow certification on completion
For Universities

Commission a cohort and give your students a practical sustainability credential.

The Impact Fellowship can be run as a co-curricular programme, embedded in an existing module, or delivered as a standalone experience. No curriculum changes are required to deploy it.

  • Deployable as co-curricular or embedded programme
  • Industry partners sourced and managed by GBOX
  • Pre and post capability measurement available
  • Suitable for single faculty or cross-faculty delivery
